RELACIÓN ENTRE EL PESO AL NACIMIENTO Y LA SUPERVIVENCIA DE LOS GAZAPOS EN LA PRIMERA SEMANA DE VIDA.

Relationship between the birth weight and the survival at the first week of age in rabbits

RESUMEN
Se controlaron los pesos individuales de 3661 gazapos y el tamaño de camada y la supervivencia en la primera semana de vida de 478 camadas. La relación que existe entre el tamaño de camada al parto y el peso medio al nacimiento de los gazapos es cuadrática, al aumentar el tamaño de camada disminuye el peso individual de los gazapos hasta que la reducción del peso se hace compatible con la viabilidad del gazapo (b1=-4,55±0,62; b2=0,14 ± 0,04). Existe una relación lineal entre la variación del peso de los gazapos al nacimiento y el tamaño de camada (0,18± 0,05). Aunque el coeficiente de regresión lineal es significativo entre la supervivencia semanal y el peso (0,001±0,0003) y la desviación estándar del peso (-0,003±0,001) al nacimiento de los gazapos, éste no es relevante.

ABSTRACT
The weight at birth of 3661 rabbits, the litter size of 478 deliveries and the survival at the first week of age were controlled. The relation between litter size at birth and individual weight at birth is a quadratic (b1= -4.55 ± 0.62; b2= 0.14 ± 0.04). When weight at birth decreases litter size increases. This tendency is maintained until the reduction of the weight is compatible with the viability of the rabbits. There is a linear relationship between the standard deviation of the individual weight at birth and the litter size at birth (0.18 ± 0.05). The linear regression coefficients of survival on the average weight at birth (0.001 ± 0.0003) and on the standard deviation of this weight (-0.003 ± 0.001) are significant, but these results are not relevant.
